Sometimes it’s 90° outside, 83° inside, and all you want is a refreshing drink. I love a great craft cocktail but don’t exactly have a ballin stock of bar ingredients at my house. After rummaging around in my cupboard and fridge, I came up with Cachaça, one and a half (yes, half) limes, strawberry shrub, and sparkling water. Et voila, magic was born.
Traditionally Caipirinhas are just Cachaça (a clear, rum-like Brazilian spirit made from sugar cane), limes, and sugar. I didn’t have enough lime for that, so I decided to get wild.
Tart Strawberry Caipirinha
2 oz. Cachaça
Juice from 1 1/2 limes
3 tbsp strawberry shrub
Combine Cachaça, lime juice, and shrub in a glass or shaker, then pour in a tall glass filled with ice. Fill with sparkling water and stir.
